The PublicSpaces initiative and BBC Research and Development have worked together to organise this one day conference on Monday October 21th at MozFest House during Mozilla Foundation’s week-long open internet festival in London. I’ll be there, as a contributor to PublicSpaces.
The conference will explore ways in which we could make a new internet that strengthens the public domain and deliver public value online, in line with PublicSpaces commitment to providing an ecosystem of alternative digital tools that serve the common interest and does not seek profit.

As a contributor to the PublicSpaces initiative that strives to reclaim the Internet as a force for the common good, I have developed and submitted a proposal to the SXSW PanelPicker that is now live for community voting!
Many essential applications on the Internet, while being indispensable tools in our lives as economic and social citizens, have turned into vehicles for political control and economic profit. Citizens are no longer subjects, but objects. […] This panel discusses the Public Spaces roadmap for an alternative ecosystem that is being implemented and co-developed by a growing alliance. It also sheds light on the public outreach strategy of the initiative.Excerpt from the panel description.
